Degdonkhona The Heart of a Tajik Home
Oil on Stretched Canvas
36" x 48"
I painted this work in Savannah in 2026, but the idea and perhaps the dream had been with me for many years. I wanted to preserve my memories on canvas so that future generations of my family would remember where I came from.
For me, this painting holds memories of my homeland, my carefree childhood, and my youth. Interestingly, I explored a similar subject in my graduation work when I completed art college in my home country.
I intentionally chose warm, earthy tones ochres, siennas, and burnt colors because they felt most natural for expressing the atmosphere, warmth, and sense of memory I wanted this painting to carry.
