This piece is personal to me, I painted this from a bridge over three days in my hometown overlooking Lake Acworth. Painting takes me to a space where I can rest in the Divine, It gets me out of myself where I can see the bigger picture that I am a tiny little whisp in. As I painted this two things came to mind, a bit of a line from King David that reads "if I rise with the wings of the dawn...even there your hand will guide me" and pondering naming this piece that very title - a hawk came and sat with me for the next hour or so. I got beautiful pictures of him. I have never painted the sunrise en plein air - so I was nervous but this fella kept me in peace. I hope that it conveys the steady tranquil I felt in the early still morning, just me and God...and a red tailed hawk.
