Treasure Mountain Waterfall
Oil on Canvas Panel
11" x 14"
This is Treasure Mountain Waterfall in Marble, Colorado. I got up before 6:00 a.m. and hiked three miles, carrying more stuff than I should have, to paint this in June. It was a glorious morning and I was the only person there to witness its splendor. The color of the water was magical, a beautiful aqua and the air was frigid to my thin Georgia blood until the sun peeked over the edge and into my ravine. Somewhere nearby, though I didn't see him, was a yearling moose. I had seen his tracks coming in and people had told me about him. I'm rather glad he decided to remain hidden. I enjoyed my solitary time painting, hearing only the roar of the waterfall and birds nearby.
